Not everyone consults the Conception House and Life House when reading a Ba Zi. I think the Life House is important and I regularly include it with any Ba Zi that I draft. The Life House calculation is based on the Sun. Compared to the calculation for the Conception House, the Life house is yang.
The Conception House, or Conception Palace carries a different nuance than the Life House and so, it can add clarity about which elements are helpful. The calculation for the Conception is based on the Moon and the time it takes from conception of a baby to birth. I would call it yin compared to the calculation for the Life House.
