The Snake loves the Rabbit because the Rabbit loves a good rabbit hole. Conspiracy theories anyone? Rule of thumb: belief =/= truth. At least not always.

Horses are falling in love, as is their wont. Horses fall in love with people and places, but things? Not as much. Horses love everyone and you’re next. To win, slow down Horse.

Month: July roughly.
The number of advantages you have this month reminds me of a mountain goat on a cliff. It seems to defy gravity, but somehow their little hoofs can cling to the tiniest ledge. Friends are here.
Hint: Be unbothered by challenge. Are you realizing you have some good luck this year yet?

Month: August roughly.
Mom energy is always a big deal for any Monkey and that’s kind of what the month is about. Forming bonds or not? Being a caring boss or leader or not? Accepting imperfection or not.
Hint: : Just for a moment, remember your success is not defined by your mom. It’s your responsibility now.

酉 Rooster

Feeling stimulated much? Like there is movement beneath your feet? It’s the Wood! Watch your step. Sharpen your knife so you don’t hurt yourself.

There’s something you started, maybe in November and now it is blooming. Did you nurture it enough? Does it need some trimming? Is it what you thought it would be?

It may be that you’re hearing some difficult feedback from someone you’ve supported. There’s nothing to prove. What you can change about the relationship is you.

Month: January roughly.
Open your mind; exploring a conspiracy or two might be a good way to increase your flexibility and power. Direct your actions toward that goal this year.
Hint: Help a friend understand the impact of their negativity/positivity.

寅 Tiger

Month: February roughly.
Canny Tigers will be very interested in helping Rabbits (women, children) this year because: benefits. Help the Rabbit get some justice and good luck will rub off on you.
Hint: Listen to them. Believe them. Follow the leads they give you. Be not for profit.

Fire Horse Year : Rats and Royalty

In the world of Feng Shui, I’m not the first to make an association between the Chinese Zodiac sign of Rat and the United Kingdom. Some reasons behind this thinking: The UK is in the north of the northern hemisphere. It consists of rainy islands. There’s lots of water, and so many coastlines. Speaking literally and figuratively, Rats have voyaged throughout the world, coming from this location. Colonizers came from these islands.

For many the UK is one of those places we associate with origins, lineages, dynasties and ghosts: Water element things. The Rat is a creature of Water. It lives in the north where it’s wet, dark and cold. You see how this works?

I hear the rain has increased lately in the UK with the year of the Fire Horse present. The Fire Horse would stimulate the Water energy of the Rat, the Rat might try to fight back with flooding. If you do what I do, you might start to wonder if the hot parts of the year in the UK will be in the autumn.

Royal Rats

Now that we’re past the small talk, I want to be more specific and tell you I associate Rat with the Royal family. The Water element is what creates the next generation, it has the dna and it carries the line of succession. In the Royal family, I think the Rat energy favors women more than men. You may have noticed that women rulers fare better than men rulers in the House of Windsor.

Obviously, if I’m right to view a correlation between the Rat and the House of Windsor, then we can say the Royal Family is clashed by this year of the Fire Horse. In this first month of the Fire Horse year, it’s already started with Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, arrested on his own birthday. I think there is more clash to come.

I’ve been studying Feng Shui and Bazi for 24 years. Observation of relationships is one way that I learn. It’s the main way that I find connections in patterns. I’ve been developing the concepts behind this post for years. Now is the right time to share what I’ve found.

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor

Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has allegedly been doing nasty things for many years. Now perhaps it will be proven. In this Horse year, there is a clash for his physical body. He may live somewhere new. The Prison star present and it’s not looking good for Andrew.

Andrew’s current 10 Year Fate Pillar of Wood Rooster started last year in the year of the Wood Snake (2025). In experiencing the Fire Penalty last year he was cast out of the family by his brother – to a limited extent.

The Rooster is one of his Noblemen, the other one is Pig. The lesson that this decade will bring is about being on the other end of destruction, the power of money and the power of the lack of it.

His wealth might protect him, but his ex Fergie probably will not be able to. Sarah Ferguson was born in an Earth Pig year. It seems no one can find her today – the day Andrew was arrested. Maybe a Wood Tiger has whisked her to safety earlier this month.

I fear both Sarah and Andrew will be needing extra funding and running out of money. His bazi says he needs ancestors to sustain him. He won’t be able to make the public appearances as a rich guy who “executes”. That energy also makes Andrew prone to spilling the beans. Do note: he was arrested due to his allegedly exposing classified information to enemies, not because of what he allegedly did to women and children. I have to say allegedly but in the latter case we know there are photos.

Being a yin Fire guy and having his natal chart structure, I predict Andrew is about to do a lot of talking and exposing of dirty laundry in public settings. I’m especially curious to see what could come out in April and August.

Now let’s move on to another Rat in the dynasty who has been living in the USA. Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex is a yang Water guy. As a Water person, you’d think he would realize it’s crazy to think he could escape all the other Water. It’s his family of origin. Harry was born in a Wood Rat year.*

In the Fire Horse year both his year and day pillars are clashed. If there is a change of location in store for him, does that mean committing to California or going back to the UK? All I’m going to say about that is he might make a lot of mistakes around the concept of loyalty. Depression is a problem for him.

Harry originally came to the west coast of the US because it promised resources, but as always, the Metal in his bazi is unreliable and so are the resources. Metal changes its nature too easily for him to be certain of what he knows, or where he stands. He was never sure of his parents role in his life.

Another way of looking at this is Harry may have been drawn to California by the Rooster – his Peach Blossom sign. He felt an irresistible attraction.

The location of the Rooster in the US is Los Angeles – the place where beauty and illusion rule, surgery and cameras make it all possible. The Rooster in Harry’s life is Meghan Markle who was born in 1981. She’s a Metal Rooster so he really didn’t stand a chance.

Given his current luck of Fire Ox that started in 2022, I’m hoping his commitment to his children is a driving force in his actions. I say this partly because people aren’t understanding why he would still be committed to Meghan Markle. There are a lot of secrets about them that might not be known until 2029.

I fear his father King Charles III will not be here to witness that. Prince Harry would probably tell you that’s typical of him.

King Charles III waited a very long time to assume the throne and now that he has, it must be heartbreaking to be so ill. I think his Life House of Earth Sheep speaks to this. It actually does indicate the timing of his ascent. I wonder if he would have chosen to live a different life if he knew how it would all unfold. If he had chosen love over everything, I think he would have been happier.

Charles is a yin Water guy. His chart is what Master Lily Chung might call “sibling rivalry”. There are lots of people just like him in his life, all competing for the same Earth. A challenge for him would be communication, especially in the context of his significant relationships. He hates confrontation most of all. You can see how these circumstances become obstacles to his power.

I think it’s important to consider that whatever his illness, COVID has likely been a accelerator. Charles was infected first in March of 2020 and then again in February of 2022. With his cold chart, he could have a constellation of health issues that people call Long Covid. Heat (or Fire) is risky for him though.

Unfortunately Charles is experiencing a lot of clash energy this year as he is in a Big Fate of Metal Horse and now it’s a Fire Horse year. I expect there will be big changes in his life in 2026. October could be especially challenging, maybe transformational.

I wish him peace and luck in 2026.

*Another royal who tried to escape the influence of the Rat was King Edward VIII who was born in a Horse year. He abdicated to escape the Rat. I guess he felt he was in the wrong place! He died in a Rat year.

Earth Ox Month : Stopping

Earth Ox Month begins Monday January 5th. I’m calling it the tail of the Snake. The revelations of the Snake year are not finished yet.

Technically, the Ox is the 12th month of the lunar and solar years. The Ox goes last in this cycle of twelve, and the Ox teams up with Snake and Rooster to produce Metal.

Earth (especially the Earth of the Ox) will be happy to support that. This particular Ox month is an Earth Ox. As with any pillar, the element on top will give it a certain nuance, giving you some clues about what experiencing it might be like. It’s 己 yin Earth from top to bottom.

The Earth Ox is known for stopping in its tracks, that is, maybe stopping you in yours! Earth doesn’t usually move; it can sometimes denote stubbornness related to the stopping. For some, the “stopping” will be like a religious conversion, not that it necessarily involves religion. I think it involves the changing of belief systems though for sure. We’ll be seeing a lot of that this month. Some of that energy will appear again in May 2026.

What might change our beliefs this month is related to the Earth and Metal. That would mean rules, laws, facts, science, data, logic, punishment, and enforcement to name a few things. Earth is the power or authority element for the Wood Snake year chart and with Earth Ox here we’ve got a whole pillar of Qi Sha. Between this idea of Qi Sha and the strength of Metal, maybe we will see more changes with our government, for one thing. Some of it may even be helpful for us.

The Ox can be stubborn and sometimes overly committed to routine and the Earth Ox is the most Ox-ish. Cultivate your flexibility but also embrace those routines that seem to make everything work for you. Find out if they still do, or find out you have more peace in the Fire Horse year by not insisting on them all the time.

If you’re already feeling depleted or burnt out, don’t push it. You might avoid illness by doing this one thing! The thing about prevention is that if you’re successful you’ll never know, right? Keep maintaining and protecting your Fire. In February we will switch to regulation of it.

The best strategy for the month might be to let go of your stubbornness, detachment, outdated ideas, catchphrases; things you’ve been storing that have lost their value. It’s said that the Ox is capable of storing all of the bitterness in the world in their belly. The Fire that’s coming could help you get rid of that too if you want it.

Monkeys! It’s the final month of the Snake year and I think it’s safe to say – you made it. Are you worrying unnecessarily?

Month: December roughly.
When the Universe is offering you a break, it’s usually best to take it. Helpers this month may slow you down, or outshine you by way of your intellectual property.

Chinese Astrology Classes for 2026

In the spirit of the Fire Horse Year, I’m offering all of the classes I teach as group classes. It’s a lofty goal I know. If you’ve been waiting for one of my twenty classes to be offered for group study, this is your year.

For 2026, one on one classes will be available as always, now at a slightly reduced rate. In addition, there are two free group classes bookending the year as part of my service in the ongoing revolution.

In case you’re new here, I mostly teach Chinese Astrology, aka bazi.

I invite those who have already studied with me to repeat a class you have taken before for free when the group class is being offered. Just email me if that’s you!

All the class dates and other information are available on my Study page or you can follow one of the links below to find out more about a specific class. I’m offering them as a progression.

The first class, Explore Roots, Stems and Branches of Bazi is an intro level class, the Wu Xing classes will build off of that knowledge. The Hidden Stems class extends what you learned in the Wu Xing classes and so on. The Intermediate level classes begin with Relationships and Compatibility, but if you already have some experience/knowledge you could probably jump in wherever you like!

Earth Rat Month

The Rat, much like a Water day stem person, is capable of switching back and forth from yin to yang and vice versa. They do it all the time. This is part of the magic of the Rat and why their strategies are usually effective. Possessing the flexible and uncontainable nature of Water, they can appear and disappear seemingly at will.

Rats are everywhere and nowhere, always seeking that lowest level where they gather to communicate; they are the invisible critics. The Rat hour is 11pm-1am. The darkness allows the Rat passage wherever they want to go. The Rat’s most prized element is Fire. Water loves Fire.

Earth Rat

In the Earth Rat month, given the nature of the relationship of Earth and Water, we may find it hard to communicate, as if our words are stifled or it’s hard to get them out. A person with this pillar might be a stutterer or experience other such issues with communication.

On the other hand, the Rat can sometimes be known for blurting things out or too much talk. Obviously this is a yin/yang situation. You don’t get one extreme without the other one trailing along.

The Earth Rat pillar might summon the image of a Mountain floating on Water, or a Mountain floating above clouds if you like. In everyday life, we might see these images in the land form around us. An island can look like a floating mountain, a mountain encircled by low clouds can look like it’s floating in the sky. In those cases, we know it’s an illusion. Water and clouds cannot support a mountain. (There are mythological floating islands though.)

The elemental signature or Na Yin of the 戊子 Earth Rat pillar is Fire. One way to remember this is that yang Earth on top of the pillar can combine with yin Water hidden in the Rat to create Fire. When the circumstances allow, this can happen. It can happen through timing most easily which is true of all transformations I think. You know the saying, everything has its season? There are many ways to interpret a pillar, and what catches your attention will be influenced by what you want to know, as well as the overall timing.

The last Earth Rat year you might remember was 2008. In that year, subprime mortgages drove the collapse of the real estate market. A lot of deals were made based on money that didn’t exist to put it bluntly – kind of like now. A lot of money disappeared. People’s homes became worth less than their purchase price. This same kind of energy is a concern now. As for real estate, at this moment in time, it’s not time to sell if you’re looking for the kind of profit people were getting in the past few years. It may be that you’ll need to wait for the Sheep to arrive in 2027 if you’re set on that.

The Death of the Year

In an Earth Rat month, the Snake’s influence continues to wane. I expect it will flare up one more time in January, maybe we can call that month the tail of the Snake. When we hit December 20th, the day before winter solstice, we’ll be at the lowest point of qi for the year. That’s where we’re headed – into a time of simultaneous beginnings and endings. When we get to the extreme yin, yang is born.

There will probably be some false starts this month for all of us, even if you’re reading accurately what the coming year is bringing. Don’t take it too hard. There’s plenty of time to adjust. The energy of the old year is going to sleep but it’s not dead yet.

In this time where the old year is “dying” and the new year is conceived, I am reminded of how when a person is in the process of dying, somewhere near the end they might have a moment where they become energized and lucid; we feel like we can communicate with them and we can. We can communicate with the new year through the old year now, but it will be limited.

As the energy of the year wanes and waxes, it’s time for us to strategize but remain flexible. This might be a good tactic for the entire Year of the Fire Horse.

Practical Applications for the Month

As Horses can feel the Fire of the new year ramping up despite being in the Water season, they may be lured out of rest, warmth and other winter maintenance routines. The Horse has a problem with consistency. Strangely, they might think of routine as a harm, but anyone could use some solid routines that are aimed at keeping them healthy.

My advice to you (and everyone else) is to continue to take precautions to protect your Fire. Rest as you feel the need. Slow down. Drink tea or other hot drinks; eat soup and stews. Get in the sauna if you can. Keep your wind gate (the back of your neck) covered – wear a scarf! Layers will keep your kidneys warm too. Sometimes I wrap a shawl around my torso when I’m working at my desk for this very reason.

If these things sound silly or like too much to you, all I can say is as you age you will find out how much your body can be impacted by your preventive measures. If you start younger, maybe there’s less damage to counteract?

The Rat brings a peak of Water energy. If you’re a Water person, it will make your self element stronger. Depending on what else is going on in your natal chart, you might prefer more Water – or not. Most of the time any element brings a mixed bag and we tend not to notice what is going right. I think we can pick and choose what to take away from our experiences by way of our focus and perceptions. With practice it becomes easier.

You get a whole month of Nobleman energy courtesy of the Rat if your day (or year) stem is 乙 yin Wood or 己 yin Earth. With both these Heavenly Stems being yin, it’s interesting to research whether the benefit of the Nobleman for women is more powerful than it is for men.

For a 乙 yin Wood person, the Rat a yin Nobleman. Some say it suggests a woman but not someone in your family. I’d say your Nobleman could be your mom. It depends. Definitely though, the Rat is your resource: what you’ve learned, your ancestors, what you know, and your health, just to mention a few possibilities.

For a 己 yin Earth person, the Rat is your wealth or success: material things, prizes, winning, controlling, conquering and other kinds of success. Consider the relationship of Rat and Ox who are Secret Friends and in the context of their relationship, Water is turned to Earth.

We can say that the wealth of Earth is communication or fertility, and the origin of Wood is in emotion or wisdom. These are just a few ways to play with Wu Xing.

As I mentioned earlier, the Rat is a strategist and planner. Perhaps it’s because the quiet emptiness of the Water season is perfect for these activities. Let your busyness subside. Try not to worry about everything working out perfectly. This won’t be the last time you consider how your tactics are working. You’ll want to be doing that regularly in 2026.

Health: Maintain your Fire!

Travel: Should be smoother this month.

Here’s one more thought: Those who are assisted this month will be challenged next year and vice versa. Pay attention to the location of these branches in your natal chart if you want to know what that could be about.

Assisted: Monkey, Rat, Dragon, Ox
Challenged: Tiger, Horse, Dog, Sheep

Relates to career, work environment, training, age mates and peers, siblings, exes and your modus operandi

Day Pillar
Yourself and true partner; your immediate environment and home life.

Hour Pillar
Your innermost self, your children, future, hopes and dreams.

子 Rat

Month: December roughly.
If it’s hard to find the right words, or to get the words out, you might choose to listen instead. You don’t have to speak to stimulate the revolution.
Hint: Set the tone for 2026 now as much as possible.

丑 Ox
Years: 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021, 2033
Month: January roughly.
You may need to secretly shift your direct alliances for a moment due to the revolution. The personal is the driving force of the political and practical.
Hint: Share plans on a need to know basis. Mostly they don’t need to know!

寅 Tiger
Years: 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034
Month: February roughly.
A Rat will bring some professional empowerment for the Tiger. In the revolution this is probably helpful for lawyers and other closers who work with justice related matters.
Hint: It’s personal too. Check in with your parents.

卯 Rabbit
Years: 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023, 2035
Month: March roughly.
Act now and find out you have more influence than usual in this familiar uncomfortable situation. This is how you shape the changes of the revolution.
Hint: Stop going unappreciated.

辰 Dragon
Years: 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024
Month: April roughly.
Here’s your month to develop freely. Don’t worry too much about getting noticed. In the revolution the showing off comes later.
Hint: Work with a small group for more impact.

巳 Snake
Years: 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025
Month: May roughly.
The Rat offers a few goodies for the Snake who is finally allowed to go back to regular business hours rather than this on demand stuff.
Hint: You’re at the helm for 60 more days of this revolution.

午 Horse
Years: 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026
Month: June roughly.
Beware of overpromising just because you would like to be able to come through like that. Then again, this is your specialty in the revolution – coming through like that.
Hint: If you’re looking for pain, Life will hurt you. You don’t have to do it to yourself.

未 Sheep
Years: 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027
Month: July roughly.
The family experience: some bonds are closer than others, we don’t always appreciate each other’s strengths, we might point out each other’s weaknesses. We still share history.
Hint: In the revolution, we honor all these relationships regardless. It works if it’s mutual.

申 Monkey
Years: 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028
Month: August roughly.
Sometimes I think about how many of the Monkey’s achievements arrive in winter and I wonder how that affects others’ perception of them. Does it hold you back in this revolution?
Hint: Seek organization if you want to have fun AND be influential.

酉 Rooster
Years: 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029
Month: September roughly.
There are many words to say, but at this point in the revolution it might be your turn to listen well.
Hint: Serve as a channel if you like.

戌 Dog
Years: 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030
Month: October roughly.
In case you haven’t awakened yet, in this revolution your friends need your help. Venture out to share your warmth. Sometimes that is all that is needed.
Hint: Go home early.

亥 Pig
Years: 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031
Month: November roughly.
Lay low if you want to. This year of revolution has been exhausting. I hope you found some reversals in the form of upgrades last month.
Hint: Don’t stop communicating now!

Rats are ready to flood the zone. They’re making pre-emptive and/or preparatory moves to spread information in the revolution. Debunk please!

Month: January roughly.
It’s a wave of personal success for you but it might feel out of control. Is anything pure anymore?! All these mixed emotions.
Hint: The revolution is not over yet, but in a few months you can be in a different role.

寅 Tiger
Years: 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, 2034
Month: February roughly.
The Tiger’s work on behalf of justice in the revolution will continue in 2026. Expect to be prominent. This month’s injustices will reveal which way to go.
Hint: I know you can see where to apply the destruction.

卯 Rabbit
Years: 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023, 2035
Month: March roughly.
Let the Pig take the wheel why not! Maybe this month is best spent in creativity – a little sheltered and in familiar territory.
Hint: All the things you do that you call small support the revolution too.

辰 Dragon
Years: 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024
Month: April roughly.
Best believe that Dragons are in the early stages of a new phase. Whatever you see them doing now is part of their next iteration.
Hint: Don’t forget the revolution is still happening. We still need you.

巳 Snake
Years: 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025
Month: May roughly.
Getting clashed back now. Whatever you’ve sown this year with your behavior, now you reap. If you did it right, you’ll come out of this more powerful than ever.
Hint: The revolution is for the common good, not for the rich to get richer.

午 Horse
Years: 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, 2026
Month: June roughly.
The question is: are you taking danger seriously enough? Or might you be taking it too seriously? This will be an important theme for you next year in the revolution – how to be consistent.
Hint: Get more widely known for your work now.

未 Sheep
Years: 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027
Month: July roughly.
Are you starting to realize that everybody wants you? Sheep like to be included but not when they are being pulled in every direction. Someone is nearby to help. Will you accept?
Hint: The revolution is uncomfortable when there are so many demands for your assistance.

申 Monkey
Years: 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028
Month: August roughly.
If you’re a Monkey looking for work, I think you’ll find some prospects this month. You know, there are actually some jobs in the revolution that are fun.
Hint: Spread the word and find what you want. It’s also good timing to apply for benefits if needed. (crazy right?)

酉 Rooster
Years: 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017, 2029
Month: September roughly.
Roosters are learning not to get into silly arguments, due to their participation in the revolution. Not everyone deserves an explanation or even a kick in the behind.
Hint: Keep your mind open, keep talking. Don’t waste your time.

戌 Dog
Years: 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, 2030
Month: October roughly.
Winter begins and it’s time for Dogs to be at home, dreaming of a favorite treat: the satisfaction of defending the Land Back movement in the revolution next year.
Hint: Share your dreams.
